3CX V20 Release Candidate 2: Ready for Testing (with a Few Caveats)

The exciting journey towards 3CX V20 continues with the release of Release Candidate 2! Packed with new features and enhancements, this version is ready for your thorough testing. But before you jump in, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:

What’s New in V20 RC2?

  • Enhanced Call Handling: Streamline your communication with new call processing scripts and improved phone provisioning options.
  • Security Boost: Secure your system with mandatory admin credentials and a secure FQDN requirement for Web Client login.
  • Fax Functionality: Manage faxes easily with the ability to create Fax extensions and clean up old faxes.
  • Privacy Control: Keep interactions private with the “Hide interaction history” option.

Heads Up: Features Coming Later

Some eagerly awaited features, like editing Bridges & FXS devices, creating Wireshark captures, and scheduling reports, won’t be available until Update 1 (January 2024). Don’t worry, you’ll get a Beta version beforehand to test them out.

Important Notes:

  • Bridges, FXS devices, and Teams integration will work, but configuration editing won’t be available in RC2 or the final V20 version.
  • Update 2 (date TBA) will bring features like assigning names to DIDs and editing Teams Configuration.
  • Upgrade with Caution: If you need the missing features immediately, wait for Update 1. Otherwise, proceed with RC2 testing.

Ready to Try?

Users on V20 Build 1458 can update directly. You can also deploy a fresh V20 cloud or on-premise installation.

Remember: Don’t upgrade from V18 Update 9 directly to V20. Wait for Update 1 if you need all the promised features.

So, buckle up and get ready to explore the future of 3CX communication with V20 Release Candidate 2!
